Nova Swimwear sponsored Ironman Lucas Allan has been very successful on the Surf Life Saving Scene recently.

Allan competed at the Maroochydore Classic on 16/17th November. Despite a lack of training due to end of semester university exams, Lucas Allan came away from the carnival with 9th in the Open Ironman and a closely contested 4th in the Open Surf Race.

Next on the Surf Life Saving season calender was the Ocean’s 38 series. Round 1 was held at Dicky Beach on the 7/8th of December.

“Wearing my nova togs and feeling fast I had a great weekend of racing finishing 4th in the open surf race and 6th in the Open Ironman,” Allan said.

Round 2 of the Ocean’s 38 series was held last weekend at Broadbeach in which the carnival was contested over two days with each day providing the opportunity to compete in all individual and team events.

On Saturday there were some great racing conditions, but Allan was only able to manage 6th in the open surf race and 4th in the open Ironman.

Allan backed up for the Taplin Relay and got his team off to a brilliant start when he emerged from the water in first place during the opening leg.

“Our Taplin relay team was just pipped at the post by the team from Alex Headlands, but I was happy because this was probably my best race of the day,” Allan said.

Sunday’s conditions were a lot rougher which was great for Ironman racing.

Feeling stronger and more experienced after the previous day of racing, Allan continued some good form in the Open Surf Race.

“I had a hard fought sprint up the beach for the win, but was relegated to second,” Allan said.

The Ironman was the last event on Sunday and Allan put in a strong performance to finish in 5th place.

“I’d like to thank Nova Swimwear for their continued support,” Allan said.

Allan is now training hard towards the next round of the Ocean’s 38 series is to be held at Tugan on the 1st/2nd of February.
